KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) — A Montana man was sentenced to 10 years in prison with five years suspended for holding a pharmacist at gunpoint.

The Flathead Beacon reports Thomas Devine was sentenced last week after pleading no contest in April to criminal endangerment.

Court documents say Devine approached the victim outside a Lakeside pharmacy and ordered the man to get inside his truck in October 2017.

He then pulled out a brown paper bag with a loaded gun and told the pharmacist that he needed a prescription filled.

The pharmacist left the truck and called authorities.

Devine told investigators that he had not slept in several days and was in extreme pain.

Devine was also ordered to pay $1,485 in restitution to the victim.
