Is there a life insurance policy benefit out there with your name on it? Montana State Insurance Commissioner Matt Rosendale has details about a program to search for lost beneficiaries called ‘The Life Insurance Policy Locator’.

“During the locator’s first year, the consumer total has matched 8,210 beneficiaries with lost or misplaced life insurance policies or annuities,” said Rosendale. “The total is $92.5 million dollars, which were returned to consumers since the locator’s launch last November of 2016.”

Rosendale said Montanans have paid many visits to the policy locator.

“The response from this project has been tremendous,” he said. “Many people invested in these policies to prepare for their final needs, or to provide security for loved ones. Others just wanted to leave a legacy. Those wishes should be honored, as the obligation has already been paid. More than 40,000 consumers have conducted searches since the locator has been launched.”

Here in Montana, 11 people have been matched with over $17,000 during the past year.
