AFL CIO Sitting Out of Pipeline Debate
"The AFL-CIO wants to build the Keystone Pipeline because it would provide jobs for union members," as James Conner writes for The Flathead Memo, a liberal blog out of Montana's Flathead Valley.
However, when it comes to legislation concerning important labor union jobs, it sounds like the Montana AFL-CIO is sitting this one out at the Montana Legislature.
Conner got a hold of an email sent from the Montana AFL-CIO political director to other labor union leaders in the state, apparently. Check out the full email at Conner's Flathead Memo by clicking here. Here's an excerpt:
Montana AFL CIO Political Director Adam Haight: I am inclined to sit this out in committee because I don’t want to piss off the native caucus this early in the session. We will need their votes to pass and kill bills in the coming months.
