Multiple first responder units from the area attempted to assist in getting an apartment complex fire along Rimrock Road and Zimmerman Trail under control on Sunday afternoon.  Shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday, firefighters were dispatched to the area for a report of a grass fire that extended to engulf the Westridge Apartment complex as reported by KTVQ.com.  The blaze was reportedly extinguished quickly by the Billings Fire Department, but not before the inferno charred and ripped through the south side of the building.

According to fire department officials, three people were transported to the hospital to receive medical attention for their minor injuries.  Three other people were evaluated and refused addition medical attention, according to officials.  It’s unknown how the fire began, but officials said it may have started outside and spread into the complex.  Damages were estimated at $500,000.
