Ben Steele Middle School is on time and under budget to open this fall.  It’s part of the 122 million bond voters passed in 2013.  District officials say that by July, they will be able to start moving school furniture into the location at 56th Street West and Grand Avenue.  Teachers will start getting settled in come August.

The school will hold 750 students, and enrollment for the fall school session is at about 700 students.  There is also some road work to be done surrounding the school for increased traffic – a turning lane will be added along Grand Avenue, sidewalks will be installed – and so will a traffic signal and crosswalk.  The school is preparing to be able to show off the work being done to the public with tours of Ben Steel on April 8th, during an open house that day from 10 a.m. to noon.
