Yesterday, we told you about J.P., the local dog who recently announced his intention to run for Mayor of Billings.  Current Mayor Thomas Hanel responded to his latest challenge this morning during an exclusive interview with News-Talk 95.5.

“With JP the dog being a service animal and his dedication to disabled veterans, I may have to concede the Mayor of Billings race,” said Hanel.  JP is one of many dogs from all over the country competing in DogTV contest called "My Dog For Mayor".  His owners are honoring JP for his service to disabled veterans in the area.

JP has yet to officially announce his candidacy.  However, if he wins the DogTV "My Dog for Mayor" contest, he'll have to wait a while to kick off his campaign.  Hanel was reelected by a wide margin last year and his current term runs through 2017.
