BPD Sgt. Saves Family from Fire
Q2 reports that a Billings police officer heroically rescued a woman and two young children Thursday morning, trapped inside their burning home. Sgt. Scott Conrad was reportedly just a few blocks away when he heard a radio dispatch of a fire on Rhea Lane at about 7:41 a.m. Conrad arrived at the house and saw smoke coming from inside. He also heard yelling from the back of the house. A dog in the backyard prevented Conrad from reaching the family, who had taken shelter in a bathroom, so he kicked in the front door. The unidentified woman carrying an infant immediately ran from the house as Conrad saw a 2-year-old child by the bathroom. He yelled for the child to come out, but the toddler did not respond. Conrad courageously entered the burning structure to grab the child.
