Montana Gov. Steve Bullock is suing the state’s attorney general over whether the Democratic governor has the authority to unilaterally approve conservation easements. Bullock’s petition to the Montana Supreme Court challenges Republican Attorney General Tim Fox’s legal opinion that says the state Land Board must approve conservation easements larger than 100 acres (40 hectares) or worth more than $100,000.
