Carjacking and Gunshot Victims Identified
The man allegedly killed by a North Carolina transient was 81-year-old former Big Horn County Sheriff William Joy of Billings. The longtime law enforcement officer was stabbed to death in his own vehicle on Billings West End late Sunday. 58-year-old Donald Gray Jr. told police he killed Joy because he needed a car to get home. He’s being held in Yellowstone County on $1 million bond, facing charges of deliberate homicide and obstructing a peace officer.
The Billings man who died from a gunshot wound on Saturday north of Pompeys Pillar was identified in a press release from Yellowstone County Sheriff Mike Linder on Monday morning as 29-year-old Jordan Castro. Foul play is not suspected and no arrests have been made. The Yellowstone County Sheriff’s investigation is ongoing. No additional information was released.
