Frigid and Snowy Until Christmas in Billings

The Gazette reports that, while it might have been the shortest day of the year, the winter solstice was also bitterly cold. Wind chill values during the day dipped as low as minus 5 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature, forecast to reach 26 degrees, with sustained winds between 10 and 16 miles per hour, adding to the frigid feeling. Light snow was forecast to begin Thursday night, with heavier snowfall this morning.

Billings is expected to receive up to 4 inches of snow. A second cold front is expected to begin moving through the area today, and will push temperatures in Billings as low as 2 degrees overnight, with wind chills possibly reaching the negative double digits. As winds pick up Saturday, blowing snow is likely. More snow is possible Sunday into Christmas Day.
