UPDATE 9/21

According to an early morning Tweet from the Billings Police Department, the Holiday station at 8th and Grand was robbed yet AGAIN on Wednesday morning at approximately 3:50 am. This is the 2nd time in less than a week, and the 4th time in four months. The original story from last week's incident is below.

A Billings gas station was robbed early Thursday morning.

The Billings Police Department shared on their official Twitter account that a robbery occurred just after midnight "near the 800 block of Grand". The Holiday Gas station is at 745 Grand Ave. According to the Tweet, the suspect entered the business and pointed a handgun at the employee, demanding money.

The business has been robbed three times in four months.

The Holiday Station store has been hit with a string of recent robberies. On May 11, 2022, the perpetrator brandished a baseball bat. They were hit again on July 7th, 2022 when the robber threatened employees with a metal pipe. This time, the suspect pointed a handgun at the store clerk.

Neighbors concerned.

Josh R. lives in the Avenues neighborhood less than two blocks from the busy intersection at 8th and Grand. When asked how he feels about the apparent uptick in crime he said, "it's bull----. It's not expected in this part of town."

Are bulletproof cashier cages coming to Billings?

If you've traveled to any big city and stopped to get fuel in a questionable area of town, you've probably noticed most of the convenience stores have thick "bulletproof" cages around the cashier area. I never thought we'd need them in Billings, but it could be inevitable. Cashier jobs are typically hard to fill and the added chance of getting a gun shoved in your face at work isn't very appealing. Would you risk your life for $14 an hour? Not me.
