Glacier National Park is arguably one of the most beautiful places in the world, and if you've never visited the park, you definitely need to add it to your bucket list.

My parents drove up from Boise, Idaho this past weekend to attend the Under the Big Sky Festival and drive Going-To-The-Sun Road in Glacier National Park. Neither of them had ever been there, so showing them one of my favorite places was a special experience.

There's a good reason why GNP is referred to as the "Crown Jewel of the Continent." It's unlike any other place you'll find across all 50 states. The name is inspired by the towering mountain peaks and pristine beauty that can be found throughout the park. There are also quite a few glaciers but be prepared to hike if you want to see most of them. The only glacier visible from the road is Jackson Glacier near Logan Pass.

Sadly, many of the glaciers are melting due to climate change and may not be available for future generations to enjoy. According to the GNP website, there were 80 glaciers in 1850, and only 26 remained in 2015. All of the glaciers in the park have receded. Going-To-The-Sun Road is the only road that spans from the west entrance near Lake McDonald to the east entrance near St. Mary's. However, you can also get vehicle reservations for other parts of GNP including North Fork, Many Glacier, and Two Medicine. For more information about Glacier National Park, click here.
