The Grand - Big Timber, MT

Let's be honest... how often do you stop in Big Timber as the exit signs fly by on the interstate? Perhaps you stop quickly to top off your fuel or use the restroom, but for most Billings residents, Big Timber is not typically our final destination.

The small community has plenty to offer. The restaurant at the historic Grand Hotel in Big Timber gets rave reviews on Google, and the hotel describes its accommodations as follows,

Our 14 unique rooms are beautifully decorated in a turn-of-the-century style, providing a classic mining town vibe combined with modern comfort.

Please note that not all rooms have private bathrooms. Check rates and availability HERE.

Sage Lodge - Pray, MT

My spouse and I have only stayed at the Sage Lodge once because it's quite expensive. The experience was exceptional. The food and drinks are fantastic, the views are spectacular and we splurged on a phenomenal spa package.

The luxury resort is offering "up to" 15% of bookings in February. Check availability and rates HERE. Chico Resort is just down the road.

The Pollard Hotel - Red Lodge, MT

The Pollard is a long-time favorite for locals and tourists alike. Marli's restaurant has great food and drinks and a TripAdvisor reviewer perfectly described the accommodations,

Don’t think old, think elegant. Don’t just think charming, think luxurious. The Pollard is a marvelous combination of a turn off the century upscale hotel with all the finery of a modern five star.

Chico Hot Spring Resort - Pray, MT

Enjoy a nice dinner at the restaurant, followed by a soak in the steaming hot spring pool as snowflakes fall on your head. Then, cozy up with a hot toddy next to the roaring fireplace in the lodge before retiring to your room for the evening.

There's a reason why Chico is one of Billings' favorite nearby getaways, romantic or otherwise. Check rates and availability HERE.

Deadwood - South Dakota

Okay, we're using the term "near" Billings rather loosely here, but at just 4.5 hours away, the mountain town near Rapid City is still relatively close in Montana travel time. Knock off early on a Friday and you'll arrive in town just in time for the all-you-can-eat crab leg buffet.

We love getting away to this fun, historic town for gambling, great food, and a variety of accommodations, especially during the off-season when it's far less crowded than in the summer. On our last trip, we stayed at the Deadwood Mountain Grand, a relatively newer hotel that sits on a hill overlooking downtown. Our higher-floor room had a balcony and the suites are quite nice. Check rates and availability HERE.
