Both Montana Congressmen Vote Against the Dirty CR

I know. It's supposed to be called a "clean CR." But I can't in my right mind call it "clean." A spending bill that refuses to address the invasion on our southern border and continues to send billions to secure other countries is straight up dirty.

As The Billings Gazette reports, both the US House and the US Senate "passed a continuing resolution to fund the federal government for 45 days" over the weekend.

Both of Montana's Congressmen voted against the continuing resolution (CR). Both had this to say via X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday:

Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MT-01): "I don’t want a gov shutdown, but a “clean CR” that extends Biden policy & spending is not an option. I voted no. I urge Congressional leadership to stay in session, consider the approps bills we passed out of committee, and the Senate must take up the 4 we already sent them."

Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT02): "This afternoon, the uniparty got together again to sell the American people short. 209 Democrats joined 126 Republicans to continue Nancy Pelosi’s budget and Joe Biden’s policies.   We must get back to work to deliver the remaining appropriations bills so we can fund government…"

When it comes to Montana's US Senators, liberal Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) has continued to vote for greater deficit spending. The debt was around $6 trillion when he first ran for the Senate back in 2006. It's around $33 trillion now.

Republican Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) says he voted for the CR in order to avoid a shutdown.

Sen. Steve Daines: "Shutting down the government is not the answer, and it only hurts Montanans. Tonight I voted to keep the government open, and I’ll continue to fight to restore order to our budget process."
