Montana's Northern Border with Canada is getting some much needed attention- from Republican members of Congress at least.

Over the weekend Fox News reported that Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke (R-MT01) and Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) are launching a Northern Border Security Caucus along with 26 other lawmakers.  Earlier this month, CBS News reported that illegal border crossings in one sector along the Northern Border alone are up 700%.

CBS News: Illegal crossings are up all along the more than 2,000-mile northern border. In one sector they're up more than 700%. And increasingly, like on the southern border, people are being smuggled by human trafficking rings.

Montana Congressman Matt Rosendale (R-MT02) is also on the Northern Border Security Caucus. Rosendale announced recently that he is reintroducing a bill that would block US taxpayer funding to defend countries like Ukraine until our own country starts defending our own border.  (It just makes sense, right?)

Rep. Rosendale: President Biden traveled to Kyiv to present President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with another half billion in taxpayer funding while he continues to allow criminals and drugs to flow through our southern border. Over the past year that President Biden has been funding Ukraine’s war, more than 110,000 Americans died from fentanyl overdoses. We must address our border crisis at home before defending the borders of other countries – the Secure America’s Borders First Act does that.

While we're talking about the news from Washington and our Montana Congressional Delegation- Montana Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) was also featured on Fox News for calling out the Biden Administration and the absurd push to ban gas stoves.

Fox News: Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., warned in a letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm this week that regulations recently proposed by her agency would ban up to 96% of the gas-powered stoves currently available to Americans.

LOOK: See how much gasoline cost the year you started driving

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Read on to explore the cost of gas over time and rediscover just how much a gallon was when you first started driving.
