It's been slow going for travelers on highway 200 today, December 5, as a winter snow storm takes its toll on many of the major arteries into Missoula.

Just before one p.m. the Missoula Road District of the Montana Department of transportation sent out an alert that a jackknifed trailer had stopped east bound traffic at mile marker nine, but that wasn't the first incident on HWY 200.

Things started getting bad at about 7:30 a.m. when a snow slide slowed eastbound traffic at about mile marker three south of Bonner.

The roads were so icy because of the freezing rain on packed snow that multiple vehicles slid off the road. Calls from those headed westbound reported hour-long waits to progress due to accidents and dangerous conditions.
