Missoula police were called to a disturbance at 11:30 last Friday night in the 900 block of Spartan Drive. According to Missoula Police Public Information officer Travis Welsh, the suspect is accused of a very aggressive form of strangulation.

"When they arrived, Police identified an adult male and an adult female, who were currently in a relationship and had been arguing, which unfortunately progressed to a physical altercation where the female reported that the male had grabbed her in a choke hold and then threw or pulled her down to the ground," Welsh said.

Welsh says the victim was inspected by first responders, but did not end up going to hospital although there were obvious signs of what looked like assault. The suspect was taken to jail.

"The suspect is Brandyn Schnase, he is 29-years-old, and he is being held on a charge of misdemeanor Partner or Family Member Assault and one charge of Aggravated Assault, which is a felony," Welsh said.

Though it is unclear what started the argument, the victims says that they had both been drinking alcohol that evening.
