In Montana, the rate of treatment for problem gambling is growing. As a result, the Montana Department of Justice and the Montana Council on Problem Gambling are teaming up to remind the public that help is available. Executive Director Brad Longcake explains.

“We basically help those individuals with gambling issues get counseling at no cost,” said Longcake. “Most of the time those individuals have to go to one of our councilors and basically identify themselves as someone who would like treatment. All of our councilors are on our website which is mtproblemgambling.org.”

According to Longcake, the Montana Council on Problem Gambling continues to treat more and more people in the state.

“Last year, we treated 1,700 clients and the year before was 1,400,” Longcake said. “The number is increasing and I think the reason it is increasing is because we added two additional councilors and those councilors were able to service the needs of the individuals in their communities.”

Individuals who need help are encouraged to call the helpline at (888) 900-9979 or one of the Gamblers Anonymous hotlines available in Montana.
