The child care center at Montana State University Billings will close on September 9th.  Aaron Clingingsmith, director of university relations and communications at MBUB, said that the operator, Massachusetts-based Bright Horizons, wasn’t able to make it financially solvent.  Bright Horizons has operated the William R. Lowe Child Care and Enrichment Center for three years on the west side of the campus.

The university owns the property, and gave placement preference to MSUB students with children.  No one at Bright Horizons was available for comment.  The center could handle up to 50 kids.  The most recent count was 19 children of students and six children of staff or faculty, according to the university.  The remaining slots were open to community members.
Clingingsmith said that after the decision came down two weeks ago, the university sent out notifications to students, staff and faculty members to let them know of the closure.
