MSUB Offers Student Firearm Storage
The Gazette reports that students at Montana State University Billings now have a secure place to store their firearms on campus. The school opened its armory this fall, which was built after about a year of planning by administrators and the Associated Students of Montana State University Billings, a student government group on campus. The armory is located at the campus police department and was custom-built, according to interim MSUB Police Chief Adam Davis. It’s monitored by an alarm system and has secure lockers, as well as a safe.
It’s against MSUB policy for anyone to carry firearms on campus, including people with concealed carry permits. A task force of the Montana Board of Regents discussed suicide prevention and mental health issues on campuses last year. Students wanted a more secure facility than what some other schools offered.
