NBC Visits “Middle of Nowhere”

The Billings Gazette reports that NBC News paid a visit to Glasgow, Montana in a segment that aired on Saturday. The Washington Post recently dubbed Glasgow the “middle of nowhere” after finding that the town is the farthest distance — about 4-and-a-half hours in any direction — from any metropolitan area of more than 75,000 people. In the age of urban and suburban sprawl, the fact of such relative isolation in Big Sky Country is an anomaly for many Americans. Glasgow’s nearest metropolitan neighbor is 277 miles away in Billings, and residents have embraced their scientific designation, printing t-shirts declaring their pride in the nation’s “middle of nowhere.”
