St. Vincent Healthcare’s new surgical department is coming. KTVQ.com reports that patients and staff will be able to utilize two newly renovated operating rooms next week in just the first phase of the $9 million project, set to be completed in 2019.  The rooms were expanded and remodeled to make them more efficient.  All of the surgical units will follow a standardized design to make things safer for both patients and staff.  In the next two years, all 14 OR suites are scheduled to be updated.

The surgical services medical director at St. Vincent said anytime you standardize a process, that’s just safer for everybody involved.  The new standardized suites will allow all types of surgery in any given room, as opposed to waiting for a specific surgical suite.  The hospital hopes to maintain normal operations throughout the construction.
