A new poll by Axios media shows that Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) would lose if the election were held today. The poll shows Tester would only receive 42% of the vote.  Why does that matter? Here's what Axios has to say:

Democrats are defending 10 Senate seats in states Trump won in 2016. In six of those states Trump's approval is higher than 50% (compared to 43% nationally). These numbers underscore how hard it will be for Democrats to pick up the two seats needed to win the majority despite Trump’s troubles.

The poll comes just months after Tester voted against the Trump tax cuts, and voted to continue the government shutdown. His critics have hammered him for choosing illegal immigrants over our troops.

***Note- story originally said Tester had a 42% approval rating. It has been updated to clarify that Tester would only receive 42% of the vote.
