Online Sales Tax

A U.S. Supreme Court decision Thursday says businesses can collect sales taxes, even if the retailer has no physical presence in Montana. Two years ago, South Dakota enacted a law to collect taxes on online sales “as if the seller had a physical presence in the state,” but the court has overturned the previous ruling that businesses must be physically present to collect taxes.
