An activist and a writer will present the seminar entitled “Politics and Chill” on Thursday April 20th at Petro Hall on the Montana State University Billings campus at 6:30pm.  Mike Scott is the senior organizing representative with the Montana chapter of the Sierra Club.  Alexis Bonogofsky is a writer, photographer, organizer and goat farmer.
Bonogofsky said she and Scott have been conducting workshops and speaking to students who are discouraged by political polarization.  The Billings Gazette reports they feel politics is [quote] “angry and vitriolic.” [end quote], and the stated goal of the hour-long seminar is to “de-politicize politics” and help students “engage without being dragged into the rhetoric.”  Student organizers Abbie Deubner and Baylie Bullington, first students at MSU Billings, report that some of their fellow students are intimidated, even by the process of registering to vote.
