This Saturday, October 28, The Montana Department of Justice will be hosting another prescription drug take-back event throughout the state.

Spokesperson Anastasia Burton said the event coincides with National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

“We are urging all Montanans to visit a local collection site,” Burton said. “You can stop by anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to get rid of your unwanted or expired prescription drugs. In the last take-back event in April, we had over 4,300 pounds of prescription drugs that were disposed of at participating sites across Montana, so our hope is that we can at least equal that, if not top that, on Saturday.”

The event will be at Missoula’s Southgate Mall where police officers will be on hand to collect the prescription drugs.

The following items cannot be accepted at the Take-Back events: Illegal drugs, chemotherapy drugs, needles, sharps, mercury (thermometers), oxygen containers, pressurized canisters, and radioactive substances.

The take-back events are being held in Missoula, as well as Big Timber, Billings, Bozeman, Browning, Crow Agency, Cut Bank, Dillon, Gardiner, Glendive, Great Falls, Helena, Lame Deer, Lincoln, Miles City, Poplar, Roundup, Stevensville, Superior, and Whitefish.
