While the Trump faithful gathered inside the Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls for a campaign rally in support of Republican senate candidate Matt Rosendale and congressman Greg Gianforte, opponents of the president voiced their concerns outside the Montana ExpoPark in Great Falls on Thursday in a designated protest area during Trump’s Montana visit. Many of the protesters raised issues such as the hateful rhetoric coming from the president, his staff and many of his supporters. They sang the National Anthem and chanted “No hate in our state.”
The president mocked the news media from the Great Falls stage on the same day newsrooms held a moment of silence for five Maryland newspaper staffers who were fatally shot last week. Trump motioned to media outlets covering the event and said 75 percent “of those people are downright dishonest.”
