How important is the actual election day anymore? You could argue that election day is practically already here. Absentee ballots are now shipping out to Montana voters for the June 5th primary election, which features a competitive Republican US Senate and Democrat US House primary election.

I spoke with Bret Rutherford from the Yellowstone County elections office, which covers Montana's largest city of Billings. 65,000 ballots are being shipped out to Yellowstone County voters. Rutherford tells me that he expects 80% of Yellowstone County voters to vote absentee.
