Resourceful Woman Escapes Rape
A resourceful woman was able to signal police for help with a Post-it note, a lighter and her rape whistle. 57-year-old Arthur Johnson pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Yellowstone County District Court to charges of attempted sexual intercourse without consent, strangulation and kidnapping. Officers were dispatched to a home on the 1100 block of Lincoln Lane last week for a possible disturbance at around 3 a.m. They could hear yelling and arguing inside the residence.
An officer approached the door and found a yellow sticky-pad note that said: [quote] “Help, I’m being raped by Art.”[end quote] When officers knocked on the door, a male voice said he would not answer. As officers prepared to kick in the door, they heard a rape whistle three times. Johnson is currently being held at the Yellowstone County Jail on $160,000 bond.
