The Billings Gazette reports that Roundup residents are seeing more signs bearing the names of roofing contractors these days, following a May 31 hailstorm that battered the town’s roofs, windshields, windows, cars and anything else left exposed. There’s lots of work for contractors, and those businesses have flooded the town in the storm’s wake to meet the demand for repairs, including a handful of Billings companies scrambling to Roundup. But, homeowners should be aware of exactly with whom they’re dealing. With every roofing rush, there are horror stories of shady contractors coming to town. State Auditor and Republican nominee for U.S. Senate from Montana Matt Rosendale’s office cautions consumers to be wary of any high-pressure contractors who have insufficient references, cannot produce a contractor’s license or those who offer to submit an insurance claim on the customer’s behalf.
