Montana U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme announced at the federal courthouse in Billings Tuesday that murders, aggravated assaults and robberies are down 1 percent from the previous two years, following the implementation of a federal program to reduce violent crime through multi-jurisdictional law enforcement efforts. Including the first quarter of 2018, violent crimes had risen 29 percent over the past two years before the new Project Safe Neighborhoods effort began.
