39-year-old Joseph Keith was sentenced Thursday to eight years at the Montana State Prison with five years probation, after repeated violations of court orders.  Keith threatened his ex-wife and her girlfriend with a gun.  Both women testified at Keith’s sentencing that on May 9, 2016, they were at the downtown Albertsons on North 27th St, when Keith ran toward them brandishing a rifle.  The woman reported the incident to police, saying they believed Keith was going to kill them.

Appearing before Yellowstone County District Court Judge Rod Souza, Keith was sentenced on two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of burglary.  He was ordered to pay $400 to the Crime Victim’s Compensation fund.  In April 2016, he broke into the home of his ex-wife’s home and stole personal items.  Officers located the missing items in Keith’s possession.
