Q2 reports that a suburban Billings High School teacher, who resigned from a school in Washington state in 2016 amid allegations of sexual misconduct, was recently placed on administrative leave.

Thomas Mattingly, a physical education teacher who’s also known as “Chris” at Shepherd High School, was hired in August for the 2017-2018 school year. Mattingly’s suspension was effective January 12th, according to documents provided by Shepherd Schools’ Superintendent Scott Carter on Wednesday.

A letter obtained by KTVQ, which was sent to Mattingly on January 8th, states that the reason for the pending administrative leave is that the district had recently become aware of accusations against Mattingly from Lake Stevens High School in Washington state, that Mattingly never reported. Carter said the district was not aware that Mattingly was accused of sexual misconduct when he was offered a contract in August.
