Billings’ surprise April snowstorm, along with Sunday’s rain combined to break the precipitation record for that date, which stood for more than 75 years. The Billings Gazette reports that by 4:20 p.m.,1.19 inches of precipitation had fallen, breaking the previous record set on April 9, 1940. National Weather Service meteorologist Tom Humphrey said the bar set in 1940 was a surprisingly low record for April.
