I got so caught up in covering the big news over the weekend about the railroad bridge collapse and train derailment over the Yellowstone River- that I forgot to share some other big news with you. A Native American Republican has now been elected to a major leadership position in the Montana AFL-CIO labor union.

According to a GoFundMe page set up on her family's behalf, Northern Cheyenne Tribal Councilwoman Silver Little Eagle (pictured above) was brutally attacked. Had she not been found by relatives, the authors of the GoFundMe page say she likely would have died from her injuries.

An event to help veterans with post traumatic stress is coming up later this month in Billings. The University of Montana Neuro Injury Center event will take place at the Billings Clinic on March 23rd and will feature neuro doctors, university researchers, and veterans- including the Vice President of The Northern Cheyenne Tribe, who is also a Vietnam Veteran.

27-year-old Tyson Lonebear pleaded not guilty last week to the stabbing death of 21-year-old Chay Little on May 18.  He entered his plea in Northern Cheyenne Tribal Court.  Tribal officials issued a warrant for Lonebear, and Big Horn County Sheriff’s arrested him in Hardin late that same day.
