Homeowners all over the state have been receiving scam phone calls that are claiming to be from Northwestern Energy. Northwestern Energy Media Contact Butch Larcomb explains how the scam works.

Vehicle owners across Montana are reporting a seasonal scam that is finding its way into local mailboxes.

Today, a local resident contacted our Missoula Search and Rescue Chief to inform him that a group called "Search and Rescue Charities" had contacted her seeking donations for local SAR organizations.

Montana Attorney General Tim Fox announced a settlement with Dallas-based MoneyGram Payment Systems, Inc. on Thursday, resolving a multistate investigation which focused on complaints of consumers who used MoneyGram’s wire transfer service to send money to third parties involved in schemes to defraud consumers.

Missoula law enforcement is reporting several calls from individuals telling consumers their MasterCard has been compromised, or demanding immediate payment of an outstanding bill.

"I was surprised and thought, 'holy cow.' I was overwhelmed with emotion. The IRS is a scary deal. They told me it was my final warning."
