Montana officials believe they've struck on the right formula to control the wolf population in Montana with a combination of both hunting and trapping.
It's unclear if less-restrictive hunting and trapping regulations are the cause, but 2013 is set to have one of the lowest rates of wolf predation in the past seven years.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently announced that it would send a one-time payment of $170,000 to the Montana Livestock Board to help cover losses due to wolf predation.
Montana Fish, Wildlife, & Parks is beginning to prepare for wolf trapping season and anyone that wants to trap this year will need to get some prerequisites out of the way first.
