Woman Injured In Suspicious Alberton Structure Fire – Hero Motorist Pulls Her To Safety [YouTube]

An unidentified Alberton woman may owe her life to a passing motorist who saw a modular home on fire, called 9-1-1, jumped a fence and brought the woman outside to safety.

Frenchtown Rural Fire spokesman Mel Holtz said the fire was reported at about 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

"Just before 2 p.m. today, we responded to a structure fire about a mile or two past Alberton," Holtz said. "The fire was called in by a passerby on the Interstate who called 9-1-1. He was able to hop over a fence and then locate a victim inside the home. They did get that victim safely outside the residence."

Holtz said the victim, a woman in her 40's or 50's, was transported to a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injuries, and that the fire appeared to be suspicious in nature.

"The fire did appear to be suspicious, so the Mineral County Sheriff's Office was called in, and the investigation was turned over to them," he said. "We had several apparatus from Frenchtown Fire on the scene, as well as responders from the Mineral County Sheriff's Office, and we were able to quickly knock down the fire, which was contained to just one room of the modular home."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
