According to Billings Police Sgt. Riley Finnegan, a woman was found dead in her home on the West End on Tuesday.  Finnegan said the woman, believed to be in her 50s, died over the weekend in a house fire in the 3500 block of Lynn Avenue.  Police said they do not suspect foul play.  While the investigation is ongoing, Finnegan said the fire likely extinguished on its own, possibly from a lack of oxygen.  An autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death.

The woman failed to attend a weekly breakfast with friends on Sunday morning, and police were called to perform a welfare check when the woman’s body was found.  Her identity has not been released. Billings firefighters said the blaze caused approximately $75,000 in damage, including smoke damage throughout home.  Three cats also died in the fire.
