"I've heard of shooting the bull...but..."

That's how one listener to our statewide radio show, Montana Talks, reacted to this story about Democrat Senator Jon Tester's campaign (D-MT) responding to the news that the National Rifle Association (NRA) downgraded Tester's ranking to a 'D.'

When called out for getting a D grade by the NRA, Tester's spokesman responded with this:

Republican Senate candidate Matt Rosendale offered up this response

“With that kind of record it’s beyond clear that you can’t trust Tester to protect our #2A Rights!” Mr. Rosendale tweeted.

So, why did the NRA downgrade Tester? Here you go:

“D.C. Jon Tester once again joined forces with Chuck Schumer and anti-gun liberals to vote against our fundamental right to self-defense,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman, NRA-PVF. “Actions speak louder than words. Downgrading Jon Tester to a 'D' sends a clear message to Montanans that Jon Tester can’t be trusted to protect our constitutional rights.”

Here's some of the great reactions via Twitter:
