Let's talk best patios in Billings. We all have our favorites, and while many places have a few tables plonked out on a sidewalk, we're talking about the best patios in Billings found at some of our favorite bars, restaurants, and brew pubs.

Best East-of-Billings Patio: Cowboys Bar in Huntley.

With up-close views of the Yellowstone River, graced with shady cottonwood trees over a large lawn, the patio at Cowboys is worth a stop next time you're east of Billings.

Runner up: Eagle Rock Golf Course has a huge patio overlooking the course. The full-liquor bar is open to the public, even if you're not golfing.

Best Patio in Billings Heights: The Vig

Choices are limited for outdoor drinking and dining in the Heights. The Vig is your best bet.

Runner Up: Applebee's has a decent patio that overlooks MetraPark and a portion of Downtown. My favorite "Heights Person" said the shrubbery around the patio could use a bit of trim, as it blocks some of the views when seated.

Best Rooftop Patio in Billings: The 406 Kitchen & Taproom

Okay, it's the only rooftop patio in Billings, but this spot easily takes top place for the best patio views of downtown Billings. Patio misters provide some relief when the temps climb and this huge patio is spread over two floors.

Best Patio for Lunch Downtown: Montana Brewing Co.

With tasty food, great service, and a prime spot for people-watching in Downtown Billings, the Brew Pub is always a popular choice for patio lovers in Billings.

Best Patio for Shade Downtown: Tiny's Tavern

When temperates climb, Tiny's patio is a great choice for shade-seekers who want to sit outside, perhaps while enjoying one (or more?) of their signature Orange Crush drinks.

Best Midtown Billings Patio: The Granary

This legendary patio near Rocky Mountain College is arguably one of the nicest patios in Billings. If it's been a while since your last visit, we hear the bar and restaurant's revamped food and drink menus are worth giving another chance.

Best Casual Patio: The Squire Lounge is unpretentious and has a great patio out back.

Best Brewery Patio: Canyon Creek

This is a tough category. Many of the brewpubs in town offer outside seating, all of which are great. However, Canyon Creek does outdoor brews the best, with tons of room and a fun, welcoming ambiance.

Runner Up: Meadowlark Brewing. Right across from ZooMontana, this relatively new-to-Billings brewery has a huge patio, great for relaxing before or after a stressful trip to Costco.

Best West End Patio: Diamond X

On the West End, Diamond X gets glowing reviews for its food and brews, and fans love their family-friendly patio. They have cornhole, a small putting green, plenty of space, and dropdown shades when the afternoon sun gets a little too warm.

Runner Up: The Windmill & Bar 51 has a secluded, park-like patio with a small pond and relaxing seating options.
