Dear Montanans: Why Are We Addicted To Ranch Dressing?!

In browsing Reddit this week, I came across a great post from "theycallmemaskface", who asked the question...

Tons of people point out this key thing to me about Montanans, and I am one of those who eats lots of Ranch as well. Why do we eat so much of this sh** lmao

Valid question! I know in Miles City, I was raised on ranch dressing... and absolutely SPOILED with the homemade ranch dressing from our bar, the Yellowstone Tavern.

So... Why DO we love ranch?

At least for me, again, growing up in Miles City... ranch was the go-to condiment. Whether it was the Yellowstone Tavern's homemade ranch (which, I will share the secret to a bit later), the Airport Inn ranch, or many of the variations of Ranch from other local businesses, that was always the first condiment the server at any place would suggest.

One of the best comments on that thread was from "1d0m1n4t3", reading:

Pretty much any food you dip in ranch is now just a delivery agent for the ranch and the original food no longer matters.

I agree! I'll pick an amazing, homemade ranch over any other condiment every time.

As many of my friends know, the family myself and my dear mother joined back in the early 2000s owned The Yellowstone Tavern on Valley Drive East. We had the BEST, handmade finger steaks. Big and juicy chicken strips! And broasted chicken (until the health department made us change that).

But... do you remember the ranch dressing? I can say that once we sold that business... the ranch (and the food in general) just wasn't the same. However... I happen to know the lady who made that dressing FRESH, every day, at 5 AM. And here it is... the classic Yellowstone Tavern Ranch Dressing.
