Many outdated laws still exist in Montana, but this one needs to go away now.

Laws are what keep society and communities safe. It doesn't matter if you are a citizen, business, or government entity because there are rules to protect everyone today.

There are some outdated laws in Montana's history. Some are weird and don't make sense, but some rules are what Big Sky Country was like back in the day.

The laws we want to talk about today are all about drinking.

Montana used to be laid back when it came to drinking laws. You could have an open container back in the day even while driving, and let's not forget you still can't get a DUI on a horse, but there is one law that has bugged us, and we need it fixed.

The law we are talking about is the beer limit at Montana breweries.

If you don't know, Montana breweries can only serve three beers (48 ounces) per person a day. Another outdated law is all breweries have to shut down by 8 PM.

Why?

Homebrewing became a massive hit with locals during the 1970s, and the brewery scene exploded ever since, but some businesses(bars) weren't thrilled with the competition.

In 1999, breweries were forced to adapt to new rules like the beer limit and closing at 8 PM. Montana has the third-highest breweries per capita in America.

We love our beer, but it could be better.

Montana needs to loosen the reigns on these arbitrary rules and laws for Montana breweries. Breweries are a crucial industry for Montana.

Could you imagine if Montana relaxed these laws? You could see Montana breweries make money hand over fist.

Maybe one day, the government will see the light of day and realize they need to fix this, but until then, we must deal with these dumb laws.
