McConnell Struggling, Time for the Montana-Wyoming Farm Team?

Joe Biden is struggling physically. Dianne Feinstein is struggling physically. John Fetterman is struggling physically. One is serving as President of the United States, the other two are Democrat US Senators.

How can Republicans point to the issues facing all three of the individuals above without addressing head on the health challenges facing Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY)?

And why do we have all of these 80 and 90 year olds running this country and running this country into the ground?

I understand conservatives may be leery of trying to force McConnell out of the US Senate altogether and leaving the decision with who would fill his shoes in the hands of the Democrat Governor of Kentucky. But why not, at the least, work to convince McConnell from stepping down as US Senate Minority Leader?

I was looking at one of the photos above, which came from the latest GOP weekly leadership press conference. Here you have two solid Western Senators right there who could take over the reins- Dr. and Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) from Wyoming, and Montana's own Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) who is currently the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC).

Would Daines be interested in the gig? I asked him on Tuesday morning while we were catching up on a whole host of topics.

Aaron Flint: "If there was ever able to be a change in leadership in the Republican Senate leadership, could somebody like John Barrasso out of Wyoming or somebody like you step into that Republican leadership position?"

Senator Daines: "Well, first of all, I'm grateful I get to serve shoulder to shoulder with a lot of great patriots, senators- oftentimes these western states that get it, Aaron. They understand the battles we face out West with the federal government and public lands and overreach and regulations and WOTUS and so forth. I have immense respect for Senator Barrasso out of Wyoming. He's an orthopedic surgeon. I mean- this guy is well trained in the sciences and gave up a practice to come serve in the United States Senate. But I'll tell ya, we've got a good farm team amongst other potential leaders here in Washington. And you know, age catches up with everybody. Nobody's immune from what happens as we grow older, and so we'll see what happens here, Aaron. But I'll tell ya, I'm encouraged by the process- what's gonna happen in 24. What we're focused on is getting the majority control back in the United States Senate so we as Republicans get to have a debate about who should be the next majority leader to replace Chuck Schumer."
